Research Title:
Differentiation between littoral and pelagic food webs in lakes using stable isotope signatures and chemical tracers

Research Summary:
My research project focuses on food web analysis using contaminants and stable isotope signatures in freshwater systems.  We are looking specifically at the contrasting contaminant levels in pelagic and littoral zones of four lakes in northern Ontario. In order to do this we are collecting samples of sediment, benthos and fish populations throughout multiple seasons and over a two-year period.  We are attempting to discover if bioaccumulation is occurring normally across trophic levels or if there is some type of deviation from what is generally seen.
