River plume effects on yellow perch growth, survival, and recruitment in Lake Erie

Research Summary:
My research involves examining the effects of river plumes on larval yellow perch growth, survival, and ultimately recruitment in Lake Erie.  My expectation is that plumes with higher phosphorus levels and temperatures (i.e., Maumee River plume) will support greater prey (zooplankton) biomass than those with lower phosphorus levels and temperatures (i.e., Detroit River plume), which in turn, will provide a more suitable habitat for larval yellow perch growth, survival, and ultimately, recruitment success to the new year-class.  To test this, I am comparing larval growth rates (via otolith daily increment widths) and past larval habitat use of juvenile survivors (via otolith elemental analysis) of yellow perch from the Maumee River and Detroit River plumes in the western basin of Lake Erie.
