Research Interests:
My research group creates new geospatial tools and technologies for solving resource and hazard management problems. We develop advanced software to integrate geographic information technology, terrain and environmental models, and environmental sensor networks into spatial decision support systems. We are developing these systems in the context of real-time, adaptive hydrological and watershed monitoring, as well as real-time hazard monitoring (e.g. floods, slope failures and landslides).

Current Research Projects:
- New environmental monitoring systems that are easier to design and configure, and that can more easily provide intensive measurements in difficult field environments
- New measurement and analysis strategies that provide more relevant information about environmental conditions and events
- New monitoring systems that automatically examine measurements in the context of the landscape and the monitoring problem, and adjust the data collection strategy to better capture critical environmental events.
